Optimizing Sustainability Reporting Processes

CPG · 2024 - 2025

The Challenge

Effective sustainability reporting depends on more than collecting data. It requires connecting teams, processes, and information into a coherent ecosystem. Across LATAM, a company had fragmented reporting pathways, inconsistent guidelines, and unclear accountabilities, which created inefficiencies and undermined collaboration. The opportunity was to redesign the reporting processes, turning a fragmented system into a connected, consistent, and efficient way of working.

The Outcome

From fragmented processes across areas and partners to an integrated sustainability reporting ecosystem across LATAM. Across a one year journey, we mapped the pain points of the teams and identified opportunities ranging from mindset and behaviors, to process and practices and lastly, to tools. We identified key opportunities, and supported the implementation of solutions across all the pillars of the strategy including waste, water and energy. As a result it became clear how to work together with clear roles and responsibilities, handovers, owners, inputs and outputs and where to find the information. Reporting is the key to ensure sustainability efforts are rightly measured and strategies improved based on data.

How We Made It Tangible

1

Understanding the reporting ecosystem

Through stakeholder interviews and process mapping, we analyzed the reporting processes to uncover inefficiencies, data bottlenecks, and gaps in accountability across teams and platforms. This created a shared understanding of the challenges and key opportunity areas for improvement.

2

Designing a more connected way of working

We translated the findings into harmonized reporting guidelines, clearer responsibilities, and improved processes, handovers, and collaboration routines across regional teams and partners. The approach established greater consistency in reporting practices and aligned stakeholders around a shared framework.

3

Connecting information and enabling better planning

We created a centralized Sustainability knowledge Hub for relevant content, data, and tools, an integrated calendar of key milestones and onboarding playbooks to ensure awareness across the ecosystem partners in Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3. These tools enable effective collaboration and optimize the day to day operations.
